Topic: New Era in Low Vision World​

Synopsis: Low vision rehabilitation is a new emerging subspecialty drawing from the traditional fields of ophthalmology, optometry, occupational therapy, and sociology, with an ever-increasing impact on our customary concepts of research, education, and services for the visually impaired patient. A multidisciplinary approach and coordinated effort are necessary to take advantage of new scientific advances and achieve optimal results for the patient. Accordingly, the intent of this talk is to outline the principles and details of a modern low vision rehabilitation service.

Speaker’s Bio: Ms Soniya Srivastava is the Sr. Faculty Optometrist and In-charge of Vision Enhancement Centre (Low Vision Clinic) and Clinical training at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital. She has experience of 25 years in the field of Optometry.

She has completed her Graduation in Optometry and Fellowship in Optometry from L V Prasad Eye Institute where she received the “Best Fellow Award” for the year 1999.

She leads the Vision Enhancement Centre, which was developed in the year 2001, with an objective of serving the visually impaired group and improving their quality of life.

She has a special interest in the field of Low Vision and had been trained and participated various National & International workshops. She had been chosen as a National Focal Person for NFP Course by the Hong Kong Low Vision Society in the year 2014

She has leaded the National Low Vision Project under Sightsavers, in 2012 to 2015 where the objective was to establish and strengthen 21 Low Vision Clinics in the eye hospital in different cities that doesn’t have the services across the country.

Topic: Advances in Vision Therapy – Optometric Phototherapy

Synopsis: Optometric Phototherapy, using light as medicine, is being explored for treating autism, neurological disease, brain injury and other conditions we treat. You will be introduced to the newest research, how light therapy is being used and what science is telling us about the effect of light therapy on our vision, nervous system and brain.

Speaker’s Bio: Dr. Cathy Stern is a behavioural, developmental and neuro optometrist near Boston in the USA. Her practice is devoted solely to vision therapy, myopia control and vision rehabilitation. She is a current trustee of the College of Syntonic Optometry (CSO), teaches in their advanced course and leads the Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA) Level II Curriculum course. She also teaches about the use of assistive technology and sports vision. Dr. Stern believes the eye and vision are key players in prevention, enhancement and rehabilitation for lifelong success.

Topic: Optical Dispensing: A Backbone of Eye care

Synopsis: In Eye-care nothing goes right if refraction is wrong. And if with the best of your efforts Refraction is excellent than all your effort goes in wane if the dispensing could not include the visual need, best suited design for un-interrupted routine, and adaptation tips to adjust with finally concluded product. Presentation will cover the gaps and ways to strengthen this backbone of Quality Eye care.

Speaker’s Bio: Prem Kumar Singh is a Senior Faculty in Paediatric Optometry, Orthoptics and Binocular Vision and Head of the Department – Optometry Sciences at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi.

He is a trained Orthoptist and Binocular Vision Therapist through the HBPs of Orbis International and had an opportunity to get trained in advanced Orthoptics under Dr. Robin Wallice.

At the same time, as the In-charge of Department of Optometry Science have contributed to making Institute as first choice for Optometry Fellowship, Internship training and short-term training in various specialties of Optometry in North India.

He was honoured with best Optometrist of the year award, in 2014, for Clinical & academic contributions and best oral paper award at 14th Vision 2020 conference June’2018.

As Volunteer Faculty of ORBIS International, he has contributed for Paediatric Optometry, Orthoptics and Binocular Vision at HBP programs in India, Nepal and Indonesia. Developed the first Prism dispensing and Binocular Vision Therapy centre in North India. He has 20 years’ experience in teaching Ophthalmologists, Optometry Fellows and Interns.

He is the Vice-President of Delhi Optometry Association (DOA) and Education committee representative of Indian Optometric Association (IOA).

Topic: Unlocking the Growth Potential of your Optometric Practice

Synopsis:

2020 has been by far one of the most interesting years to date.

A lot of businesses have had to adapt in multiple ways as a result of being greatly impacted by COVID-19.

This presentation gives a quick guideline on how Optometric Practices can grow throughout 2021 and beyond.

Topic: Scleral CL; Old wine in new Bottle

Synopsis: Speciality lenses – non-invasive device can deferred surgical intervention. A trial of the Scleral lens should be attempted before making any corneal surgical decision for ectatic disorders.

Speaker’s Bio: Abhilekh Aneja is a Senior Faculty Optometrist at Dr.Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital. He heads the Contact Lens Clinic at Dr.Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH). Mr. Abhilekh Aneja has qualified as an Optometrist in year 2002, and one-year fellowship at SCEH in year 2003. He had been trained in at LVPEI in year 2007 and did scleral contact lens training from Hertfordshire, U.K in 2010. He presented papers and posters in national conferences. He was awarded Best paper & Best paper award in 36th AIOC held in Agra in September 2014. Apart from Optometry Conferences, he is a guest speaker for Delhi Ophthalmic Society on specialty Contact lenses. He is a well-known contact lens practitioner in the North India. He is been into expertise practice from last 18 years. His expertise area is Rose-K & Scleral Contact Lenses.

Topic: Impact of Customized Ocular Prosthesis in the Management & Rehabilitation of One-eyed Patients

Synopsis: Loss of an eye to disease or trauma (injury) is an unfortunate incident, with its implications beyond just the loss of vision. The continued dilemma of a painful disfigured eye and the social stigma attached, leads to huge psychological sufferings for the patient. A well fitted Custom Designed Ocular Prosthesis not only brings back the natural look back to the person but also plays a very big role in the improvement of self-confidence & self-image of the one-eyed person.

Speaker’s Bio: Jico Gogoi is an Ocularist & Anaplastologist based in Assam, India offering his services at Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya. Formerly he was the Head Ocularist at Dr. Shroff Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi where he served for 9 years. He had completed his Master in Optometry in 2012. With a keen interest in providing cosmetic rehabilitation to those in need, he took Ocularistry and completed his training at Delhi and Hyderabad. He has presented his scientific papers & posters of Ocularistry & Anaplastology at various conferences around the country. He has also conducted many workshops & CME in order to increase awareness among people & medical practitioners regarding the options of cosmetic rehabilitation available. In his field, he specially enjoys dealing with pediatric patients, youngest being 30 day old! He loves the challenges of fitting Customized Ocular Prosthesis in complicated, contracted sockets. He has a keen interest in designing silicone maxillofacial prosthesis like orbital, ear &nose prosthesis. In his leisure time, he loves to travel & paint.
