As part of the ongoing World Vision Science Day initiative, Vision Science Academy dedicated July 2026 to exploring the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Technology in Vision Care, recognising the growing impact of intelligent technologies in advancing clinical practice, research, education, and innovation within the vision sciences.
Throughout the month, a series of educational and awareness activities were conducted to promote learning and engagement in this emerging field. A major highlight was the SYNAPSE e-Symposium Session 2, which brought together vision science professionals and learners from across the globe to explore the applications of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies in eye care. The session provided valuable insights into current developments, future opportunities, and the evolving role of AI in transforming vision care delivery.
As part of the initiative, Vision Science Academy also introduced the Artificial Intelligence in Optometry Mastery Program, offering participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of AI-driven innovations through specialised educational courses focused on the future of ophthalmology and optometry.
In addition, educational digital awareness campaigns were conducted through Vision Science Academy’s social media platforms and communication channels, highlighting the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and emerging technologies in vision sciences. These initiatives aimed to encourage continuous learning, inspire innovation, and promote greater awareness of the technological advancements shaping the future of eye care.
