Build the academic career you're meant to have.
Ten modules. Two certifiable phases. One evidence-based pathway for optometry and vision science academics — from your first teaching session to your next promotion.
Self-paced · Study alongside your existing clinical and teaching work
Not another generic CPD course
Four things that make this different from a stack of slides and a certificate of attendance.
Built for your field, specifically
Every module, case study, and quiz question is written for optometry and vision science — not adapted from a generic teaching course.
Evidence-based, not improvised
Every framework is drawn from real health-professions education, research, and leadership scholarship — cited, not assumed.
Learn entirely at your own pace
Fully self-paced and text-based. Fits around your clinic, lab, and teaching schedule — no fixed class times, ever.
A real, dual-tier certificate
Earn a genuine, named credential — recognisable on a CV or promotion case, not just a "completion" badge.
From enrolment to certificate, step by step
The full pathway — exactly what happens, and when.
Enrol in Phase 1

50 questions covering all five modules. Pass at 80% or above — retakes always allowed.
Earn your Foundations Certificate
A genuine, standalone credential. Stop here with a complete achievement — or continue below.

Modules 6–10: Academic Leadership, Mentorship, Technology, Ethics & Accreditation, Career Progression.
Pass the Phase 2 Assessment
50 more questions covering Modules 6–10. Pass at 80% or above.

Common questions
Can I do Phase 1 without committing to Phase 2?
Yes. Phase 1 alone earns you the standalone VSA Foundations Certificate. Stop there, or continue into Phase 2 whenever you're ready — there's no expiry.
How long do I have to complete the programme?
It's fully self-paced. Most learners complete each phase in a few months alongside their existing work.
What if I don't pass a quiz first time?
Quizzes and Phase Assessments can be retaken. Every question is grouped by module, so you know exactly what to review.
Is the certificate the same for students and faculty?
Yes — identical regardless of which rate you paid. Pricing reflects fair access, not different content or credential value.
Can my department enrol as a group?
Yes — see Institutional & Bulk Licensing above for cohort discounts starting at 5 learners.
