Saptarshi Mukherjee

Saptarshi completed his Bachelor in Optometry (B.Optom) from University of Technology, West Bengal. After completing B.Optom he enrolled for the fellowship program at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH), New Delhi where he received the best fellow award. Saptarshi was then offered a Consultant Optometrist position at SCEH in 2010 and promoted to Consultant Senior Optometrist in Glaucoma and Diagnostic Department in 2011 where he still continues his excellent service.
He holds a certificate specialised in glaucoma profession. Following to completing the fellowship program he completed Master of Optometry in 2012 from Vinayaka Mission University, Tamil Nadu. In 2014 he was awarded the “Passionate Optometrist” award from SCEH for his insightful thoughts and contribution in the profession. He is currently the faculty of optics and ophthalmic instrumentation at SCEH. Saptarshi has several research papers published contributing significantly to Optometry profession and has obtained NIDA certification for clinical trial.
On several occasion he was invited for guest lectures and as workshop demonstrator at various organisations in India. He has also presented several research papers at major vision science conferences across India. Saptarshi was appointed as the technical investigator for the Trigger Fish Contact Lens project by Sensimed in India where he significantly contributed to the development of the project.
His primary clinical and research interests are diagnostic optometry, behavioural optometry and neuro-optometry. Saptarshi has also contributed to optometry at an international level in Botswana, South Africa as a community optometrist. In May 2020, Saptarshi was appointed as the Director of Advanced Studies for India at Vision Science Academy where he is immensely contributing in the advancement of vision science studies for the India region.
