Vision Science Academy Announces the Launch of “The Global Myopia Ecosystem”: A Unified Front Against the Myopia Epidemic
LONDON, UK | January 1st, 2026 – Vision Science Academy (VSA) is proud to announce the official launch of its latest digital initiative: The Global Myopia Ecosystem (GME). This groundbreaking platform is engineered to serve as a coordinated framework, integrating stakeholders from across the globe to combat the escalating burden of Myopia.
As the prevalence of Myopia (nearsightedness) continues to rise at an alarming rate, with projections suggesting that half of the world’s population will be myopic by 2050, the need for a centralised, collaborative response has never been more urgent. The GME initiative aims to ensure that no participant in a child’s vision journey, from parents and educators to clinicians and researchers, is left behind.
Addressing the Global Burden
Myopia, particularly high Myopia, significantly increases the risk of vision-threatening conditions such as Retinal Detachment, Glaucoma, and Myopic Maculopathy. An ecosystem integrating everyone will help fight the global burden of nearsightedness.
