Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) is a brain-based visual disorder affecting how individuals interpret visual information. Patients often experience inconsistent, fragmented, or confusing visual input. Caregivers play a vital role in identifying early signs through observed behaviours. This talk outlines structured approaches to CVI assessment and management, emphasising the importance of early intervention. It highlights the role of low vision aids, assistive technologies, and environmental modifications in improving functional vision. The optometrist’s role is central in diagnosis, vision rehabilitation, and guiding families; ultimately enhancing the quality of life and independence for individuals living with CVI.
