Executive Summary
Vision Science Academy collaborated with J. Jothi Balaji (India) for the successful dissemination of the Myopia Clinical Practice Survey, an initiative in collaboration with James Wolffsohn (United Kingdom).
The strategy was a multi-modal outreach centred on three key pillars: direct email campaigns, broad social media dissemination, and targeted outreach to international institutions.
Purpose of the Survey
The purpose of this survey was to assess current myopia clinical practices and awareness, utilisation, and clinical relevance of online myopia progression risk calculators among practising eye care professionals. The results of this survey support academic research and the development of evidence-based strategies in myopia management.
Participation in the survey was voluntary, fully anonymous, and required approximately 5–7 minutes.
Vision Science Academy’s Role
Through our extensive outreach plan, we disseminated this important global survey to our wide audience base from around the world. Our outreach included major institutions and organisations in vision sciences from different regions, with active support and contribution from their members.
The established multi-channel framework — combining direct professional contact (Email), expansive public reach (Social Media), and strategic partnerships (Institutional Outreach) — provided a robust foundation for a high-impact global data collection effort.
Conclusion
Through collaboration in this global survey, Vision Science Academy continues to support and actively work toward achieving the goal of making quality vision care accessible for all.
