Visionary Voices Contest | Participant Guidelines

Theme: Children’s Eye Health Awareness Challenge 2025

 

Introduction

The Visionary Voices – Children’s Eye Health Awareness Challenge 2025, by Vision Science Academy, invites undergraduate and postgraduate Vision Science students to produce creative and informative reels (max 60 seconds) promoting children’s eye health and safety.

Aligned with Children’s Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month, this contest combines science and storytelling to raise public awareness. Selected reels will be showcased on social media, with the most impactful entry winning The Visionary Voice Award – a cash prize and certificate.

Submission opens 16th August 2025 and closes 25th August 2025. Use hashtag #VSAVisionaryVoice and help spread the vision for healthier eyes in children. 

Guidelines

These guidelines detail the requirements and important instructions for students entering the Visionary Voices Contest for Children’s Eye Health Awareness Challenge 2025.

1. Eligibility

• • Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Vision Sciences.

2. Submission Requirements

• • Format:
    • Informative reel (video)
    • Maximum duration: 60 seconds
    • Language: English
  • Entry Limit:
    • Each participant can submit up to 2 reels.
  • Submission Portal:
    • Entries must be sent via the official Google Submission Form provided by Vision Science Academy.

3. Content Guidelines

• • The reels must focus on children’s eye health and safety.
  • All submissions should be original and not infringe on any third-party rights.
  • Any plagiarised or previously published content will be rejected.
  • Use clear language, factual information, and engaging visuals.

4. Consent and Data Privacy

• • Participants must acknowledge and agree to the digital consent statement in the submission form.
  • By submitting, you grant Vision Science Academy the right to use your reel for educational/promotion purposes and agree for your name and institution to be disclosed as part of the contest promotion and winner announcement.
  • Personal data will be handled according to data protection guidelines.

5. Judging Criteria

The reels will be evaluated on:

• Creativity and impact
• Accuracy and clarity of information
• Relevance to children’s eye health/safety

6. Awards

• • The Visionary Voice Award:
    • £25 Cash prize
    • Certificate of Achievement

7. Promotion and Exposure

• • Top entries of the contest will be posted in VSA’s social media platforms after announcement of the results.
  • The official hashtag to use: #VSAVisionaryVoice.
  • Entries may also be promoted on the VSA website and through emails.

8. Important Dates

• • Launch & Submission Opens: 16th August 2025
  • Submission Closes: 25th August 2025
  • Winner Announcement: 30th August 2025

9. Responsibilities

• • Ensure submitted reels are original and comply with contest rules.
  • Accept that all decisions by the judging panel are final.
  • No correspondence regarding judging outcomes after winner announcement.
