VSA Global Eye Health Programme
Learn beyond the eye. Think beyond the clinic.
A specialised learning programme in community and global eye care. It connects community optometry, global ophthalmology and public health, so you can see eye care the way health systems, communities and the world see it.
Eye care is more than clinical practice.
Improving eye health requires more than knowledge of diagnosis and treatment. It also requires an understanding of communities, prevention, health promotion, access to care and the wider global eye-health landscape. The numbers show why.
people worldwide live with a near or distance vision impairment.
World Health Organizationof those cases could have been prevented or have yet to be addressed.
World Health Organizationof vision loss is preventable or treatable, yet access to care remains unequal across the world.
IAPB Vision AtlasMost of this burden is not solved in the consulting room. It is solved in communities, in public health and in health systems. That is what this programme teaches.
Widen your field of view.
Most training stops at the first ring. This programme takes you outward, one lens at a time, from the individual in the chair to the health of the whole world.
Three specialised courses. One connected perspective.
The programme brings together three complementary learning experiences through the Vision Science Academy Learning Centre. Each course stands on its own and earns its own certificate. Together they give you the full picture.
