As part of its commitment to promoting public awareness and eye health education, Vision Science Academy observed Cataract Awareness Month, Nystagmus Awareness Day, and Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month through a series of digital outreach initiatives conducted throughout June 2026.
The Cataract Awareness Month campaign focused on increasing public understanding of cataracts, one of the leading causes of visual impairment worldwide. Educational content highlighted common symptoms, risk factors, available treatment options, and the importance of regular eye examinations for early detection and timely intervention. As part of this initiative, Aakanksha Pathania developed an awareness reel aimed at educating the community about cataracts and the significance of preserving visual health.
In recognition of Nystagmus Awareness Day, Vision Science Academy also conducted educational activities to raise awareness about nystagmus and its effects on visual function and daily life. Through engaging digital content and awareness campaigns, the initiative sought to improve understanding of the condition and encourage greater support for individuals affected by nystagmus. Dannon Boluwatife Rebecca contributed to this campaign by creating an educational awareness reel highlighting key aspects of the condition.
Additionally, Vision Science Academy observed Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month through educational social media campaigns exploring the relationship between brain health and vision. The campaign highlighted how neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease can affect visual perception, eye movements, spatial awareness, and visual processing. By addressing the connection between neuroscience and vision science, the initiative aimed to foster greater awareness of the visual implications of neurological disorders.
Through these awareness activities, Vision Science Academy continued its mission of promoting evidence-based education, public engagement, and interdisciplinary learning within the field of vision sciences.
