Introduction

The Vision Science Innovation Challenge by Vision Science Academy, invites students and professionals in vision sciences to come up with innovative ideas in vision sciences and submit to The Vision Science Innovation Challenge to compete for cash awards and mentorship opportunities.

Submission opens on 15th September 2025 and closes on 30th September 2025.

Objective

To foster ground-breaking ideas that enhance eye care and vision technology, encouraging participation from students and professionals in vision sciences.

Guidelines

To enter the Vision Science Innovation Challenge, interested participants must adhere to the following guidelines.

1. Eligibility:

  • Category 1: Vision Science Students
  • Category 2: Vision Science Professionals

2. Submission Format: Via a Proposal following the provided template by the Academy

Proposal Document within 500 words to include the following:

  • The Title of the Idea
  • Purpose behind the Idea
  • Detailed Methodology
  • Expected Impact
  • Proof of Concept
  • Conflict of Interest

3. Entry Limit:

  • Each participant can submit only 1 proposal.

4. Submission Portal:

  • Entries must be emailed as a PDF document to contest@visionscienceacademy.org
  • The subject line of the email must be ‘Submission for Vision Science Innovation Challenge’.
  • Add a cover letter in the email explaining the proposal.
  • Participants must mention their full name, designation and affiliation in the email body.

5. Content Guidelines:

  • The ideas shared must be original, novel and viable.
  • The concept must be impactful.
  • Any plagiarised content will be rejected.
  • Use clear language in the proposal.
  • Submissions will be checked for AI detection. AI generated content will not be accepted.
  • There should be no conflict of interest.

6. Judging Criteria:

The submissions will be evaluated on:

  • Novelty
  • Originality
  • Viability
  • Impact
  • Pitch

7. Important Dates:

  • Launch and Submission Opens: 15th September 2025
  • Submission Closes: 30th September 2025
  • Results Announcement: 9th October 2025

8. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure submitted proposals comply with contest rules.
  • Accept that all decisions by the judging panel are final.
  • No correspondence regarding judging outcomes after winner announcement.
