Vision Science Academy Announces the World Vision Science Congress 2027 – A First-of-Its-Kind Interdisciplinary Congress Coming to New Delhi
New annual congress unites optometry, neuroscience, psychology, and technology under one roof, with a 2027 spotlight on myopia
LONDON, UK / NEW DELHI — 7 August 2026 — Vision Science Academy (VSA), the international membership and training organisation for eye health and vision science professionals, today announced the World Vision Science Congress (WVSC) 2027, its first annual congress dedicated to bringing the full breadth of vision science into a single interdisciplinary programme. The inaugural edition will take place over two days in New Delhi: a Pre-Conference on Saturday, 6 February 2027, followed by the Main Congress on Sunday, 7 February 2027.
WVSC 2027 is built around a simple premise: vision science is not one discipline but four, and they rarely share a stage. The Congress programme spans Optometry and Ophthalmology, Visual Neuroscience and Psychophysics, Psychology and Behavioural Vision, and Myopia and Advanced Technology — deliberately structured so that clinicians, researchers, and technologists engage with each other’s work directly, rather than at separate, single-discipline events.
The 2027 edition carries a dedicated spotlight on myopia — one of the fastest-growing vision concerns worldwide — examined from clinical, neuroscientific, psychophysical, and technological angles across the programme. Myopia is this year’s focus area, not the sole theme; the Congress spans all four pillars throughout.
“We did not set out to build another eye-care conference. We set out to build the room where vision science stops being four separate conversations. Registrations are opening soon, and I would love for this to be one of the first congresses of its kind that the field genuinely builds together.” — Dr. Abhishek Mandal, Founder and CEO, Vision Science Academy
The Congress will bring together international and national speakers across all four pillars, alongside special guest sessions still being confirmed. A dedicated scientific session will give researchers and early-career academics a platform to present contributed work, alongside a trade exhibition and hands-on pre-conference sessions. Full programme details, the venue, and the speaker list will be announced in the coming months as confirmations are finalised.
“A first edition does not run itself — it is built one enquiry, one confirmation, one detail at a time. Whether you are looking to register, speak, exhibit, sponsor, or volunteer, I am the person coordinating that, and I would love to hear from you.” — Kristi Sharma, Congress Executive, WVSC 2027
Registrations for WVSC 2027 open soon. Organisations and individuals interested in sponsorship, trade fair participation, speaking opportunities, or volunteering are invited to get in touch ahead of the formal registration opening.
