PRESS RELEASE

London, UK – 1 October 2026 — Vision Science Academy has officially opened Early-Bird registration for the World Vision Science Congress (WVSC) 2027, a new international congress designed to bring together the diverse disciplines of vision sciences in one interdisciplinary forum.

New Delhi to Host the Inaugural Congress

The inaugural World Vision Science Congress 2027 will take place in New Delhi, India, on 6–7 February 2027, bringing together professionals, researchers, clinicians, educators, students, institutions, and organisations working across the vision sciences.

The Congress will be held in celebration of World Vision Science Day, Vision Science Academy’s annual initiative observed every 4 February, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of vision science and the importance of collaboration across the field.

ONE FIELD. EVERY LENS.

WVSC 2027 is built around a simple premise: vision science is one field, viewed from multiple directions.

  1. Optometry and Ophthalmology — Clinical practice, diagnostics, treatment, and innovation at the forefront of eye care.
  2. Visual Neuroscience and Psychophysics — The neural mechanisms underlying vision and the scientific measurement of visual perception.
  3. Psychology and Behavioural Vision — The relationship between vision, behaviour, attention, cognition, and decision-making.
  4. Advanced Technology and AI — Emerging approaches to AI, alongside technological developments transforming vision research and care.

2027 Spotlight: Myopia, Seen From Every Angle

While WVSC 2027 spans the complete spectrum of vision science, myopia will be the Congress’s special focus for 2027. The programme will examine myopia from multiple perspectives — from clinical management and refractive development to visual neuroscience, psychophysics, behavioural factors, and emerging technologies for monitoring and treatment.

The organisers emphasise that myopia is the 2027 spotlight, not the sole theme of the Congress, with all four pillars represented throughout the scientific programme.

Early-Bird Registration Now Open

Registration for WVSC 2027 is now officially open, with Early-Bird pricing available until 7 December 2026.

MVSA members receive additional benefits, including free access to the workshops. Registration fees will increase after 7 December 2026.

Building the First WVSC With the Vision Science Community

As the inaugural edition, WVSC 2027 is being developed as a collaborative platform involving the wider vision science community. The Congress is currently open to:

  • Sponsors and exhibitors from eye care, vision research, and vision-related technology
  • Volunteers interested in contributing to the first edition
  • Universities, hospitals, and professional bodies interested in institutional partnerships
  • Researchers and professionals interested in participating in the scientific programme

An Invitation to the Global Vision Science Community

World Vision Science Congress 2027 invites members of the global vision science community to be part of its inaugural edition and contribute to a broader conversation about the future of the field.

From clinical eye care to neuroscience, psychology, myopia, and advanced technology, WVSC 2027 aims to create a space where traditionally separate conversations can meet, interact, and generate new perspectives.
