London, UK – February 28, 2026 – In alignment with Low Vision Awareness Month, this year’s International Vision Science Week focused on enhancing the quality of life of individuals with low vision through education and advocacy.

Vision Science Talks (VS Talks)

Two expert-led sessions were conducted under the VS Talks series, centred on:

  • Understanding Low Vision Rehabilitation
  • The role of Orientation and Mobility (O&M) training
  • Strategies to improve independence and daily functioning
  • Clinical and community-based approaches to low vision care

This talk highlighted how orientation and mobility interventions empower patients to navigate their environments confidently, ultimately improving their psychosocial and functional well-being.

Awareness Initiative: Educational Reel

To expand outreach beyond academic circles, VSA launched an engaging educational awareness reel focusing on:

  • What is low vision?
  • Importance of early rehabilitation
  • How orientation & mobility transforms lives

This digital campaign aimed to reach the general public, students, and young professionals, making low vision awareness accessible and shareable.

Impact and Vision

These awareness initiatives serve as:

  • A platform for global academic dialogue
  • A bridge between clinical science and community awareness
  • A movement toward inclusive eye care
  • A commitment to patient-centred vision rehabilitation

Through structured talks, digital awareness campaigns, and professional engagement, Vision Science Academy continues to strengthen its role in advancing vision science globally.
